The Go M.A.D. Concert Series temporarily suspended

In Our Plans on July 15, 2010 at 5:26 pm

We have been working hard this last year to start a Christan coffee house called The Real Rock Cafe. Because we have had such low turnout and support, we have decided to temporarily suspend our Go M.A.D. Concert Series in Fremont Nebraska and concentrate more on the ministries of Word From The Street and Accidental Proffit.

It saddens us to do this, but after much prayer and discussion, my wife and I realized that a ministry like this  has taken too much of a toll on us physically and financially to continue on our own.

We are praying that God will encourage others in the community to step up and help with this very important and needed  ministry to Fremont.

As soon as God provides us with a building and volunteers needed we will continue the ministry of The Real Rock Cafe.

Thank you for your prayer support as we seek God’s will.

Daniel Christian Concert

People enjoyed a chicken dinner complete with mashed potatoes and gravy with side orders of corn and baked beans as they patiently waited for the latest installment of The Real Rock Cafe’s Go M.A.D. Concert Series held at Christian Community Fellowship in Fremont, Ne. Saturday, July 10th.

After the dinner Art Wakefield opened the concert with his original mix of blues, rock, and ballads. Many of his songs are predominantly about God and faith and can be downloaded here .

Daniel Christian gave a rousing performance as he switched between piano and guitar with a mix of ballads, pop, and blues; turning his live concert into an intimate gathering of friends. Between songs Daniel showed us  his unique wit and humor as he shared stories of  his life’s journey.

At the end of the evening we all felt a sense of kinship with Art and Daniel that left us all wanting more. Unfortunately, because we held our Dinner & Concert on the same night as John C. Fremont Days there were less people attending than we would have liked. So we decided to postpone future events until we are able to obtain a more neutral location or possibly a permanent building for The Real Rock Cafe. We will be posting updates as they become available.

We would like to thank the members of Christian Community Fellowship who have shown us such great support. You are truly amazing people.

Go M.A.D Dinner & Concert

In Events on July 6, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Our Go M.A.D. Dinner & Concert July 3rd was a great success thanks to Joshua (Preach) Crum and his underground  family.
Many thanks to the members of Christian Community Fellowship Church in Fremont who stepped up to volunteer their services to help make the evening event go off without any problems.

Jonah & Accidental Proffit started the evening off with their rendition of Randy Stonehill’s song, Shut De Do.

After their set Jonah drew numbers for the prize drawings and was able to give away several CDs donated by local musicians and  a Real Rock Cafe T-Shirt.

Preach finished the evening with a mix of hip-hop and rock songs that the youth attending greatly enjoyed.

Some of the older generation who attended enjoyed watching the young people dance and bob more than they enjoyed the music. At any rate, everyone had a great time of food, music, and fellowship and the opportunity to hear the gospel in a very unique venue.

Saturday, July 10th Christian community Fellowship will again be sponsoring another Dinner & Concert. This time we will feature Daniel Christian with special guest Art Wakefield. Below is more information:

We have a new home!

In Our Plans on April 26, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Greetings everyone.
We finally found a new home for The Real Rock Cafe in Fremont Ne. and we are currently looking for bands or other musical acts to play at one of our Go MAD concert series. The Real Rock Cafe will be operating out of Christian Community Fellowship Church located at 1640 W. Military Ave. Fremont, Ne. 68025.

We will be using the youth room at the church which has a separate entrance and access to a kitchen to serve beverages and snacks from. There is already a stage set up and we have our own sound system available  for musicians to use. We are looking for mainly acoustic acts but we can also accommodate larger bands by using the church sanctuary.

In addition to Band Night, we will also be having Game Night, Movie Night, and Open Mic Night. We are planning to be operating The Real Rock Cafe’ on Saturdays from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Eventually we hope to expand operating hours to include Mondays and Wednesdays as well.

Besides serving beverages and snacks we will also  have Real Rock Cafe merchandise available at all of our events. If you, or anyone you know would be interested in playing at The Real Rock Cafe please contact us  at: accidentalproffit@rocketmail.com

We’ll be posting our schedule of events in the next week so check back and pass the information on to all of your friends. Together we can make a difference in Fremont, Ne.

Looking for another building

In Events, Our Plans on March 25, 2010 at 6:21 pm

We had hoped to use the building located at North Broad Street in Fremont to open The Real Rock Cafe’ but unfortunately, some of the tenants who live in apartments above that building do not want music being played there. Since we want to maintain good relations with our neighbors we have decided to continue to look for another building. In the meantime we will continue to hold our events at local venues in Fremont.

That’s where you come in. We would like to invite you to host one of our ministry programs at your church. In the coming weeks we will be scheduling our Go M.A.D. concert series. (Go M.A.D. stands for Go Make A Difference) We will also be planning Movie Nights, where we will present different films that will encourage discussion groups afterward. There will be Game Nights planned as well as Open Mic Nights.

The Real Rock Cafe’ is a collection of artists, musicians, and writers with the common goal of using their gifts and talents to minister to those in the community. We envision it to be a place where those who have been wounded physically and spiritually can receive healing for their broken souls.

Our goal is not to be just an outreach of Christian Community Fellowship Church, but a community wide outreach. That’s why we would like to encourage other ministries to be involved. With more community involvement we can make a real difference in the life of someone living right here in Fremont.

How the Real Rock Cafe’ can help at risk youth in the community

The Real Rock Cafe’ events will give young people a safe place to hear positive messages. It is important that caring, dedicated adults be there to listen to them and help them navigate the stresses, changes and choices that come with adolescence. Building relationships with these responsible adults and with other young people from different backgrounds will help give preteens and teens the inner strength to avoid destructive behavior. The Real Rock Cafe’ events will be targeted specifically to at-risk youth as well as others in the community.

We are excited about the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish together. If you can support us by hosting one of our events, we would be very grateful. Most importantly, we also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God’s leading in this ministry to Fremont. Without prayer, nothing will happen.

Serving Him,
Jonah and Accidental Proffit
